Thelma Elizabeth Goering of Warsaw, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor of Warsaw at the age of 98.
She was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, where she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Warsaw for over 60 years. Thelma worked for over 23 years as a proof reader at LM Berry and Company in Warsaw. She was the past president of the Modern Home Ec Club of Warsaw and sang with the Melloaires.
Thelma was born on Sept. 13, 1917, in Kosciusko County, to Edward Griesinger and Leah Marie (Laughlin) Griesinger. On June 22, 1946, she was married to Francis “Chub” L. Goering, who passed away in 1990.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter: Luann Goering, Warsaw; one brother: Charles Griesinger, Fort Wayne; two nephews; Roger (Cheryl) Hand, Warsaw; Lynn (Kit) Taylor, Albuquerque, N.M.; three nieces: Betty (Bill) Kahlenbeck, Fort Wayne; Karen (Mike) Roorbach, Marion; Donna (Loren) Maierle, Albion; and a niece and nephew in Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters; and one niece.
Those wishing to pay their respects to Thelma and her family can meet for a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, and officiated by Chaplain Bob Jarboe.
Memorial donations may be directed to Harbor Light Hospice, Mishawaka, and would be appreciated by the family.
