Reno J. Fimbianti, 87, Nappanee, died at 8:42 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Elkhart Hospice House, where he had been since Friday.
He was born on Jan. 2, 1929, to Guiseppe and Esterina (DeMuri) Fimbianti in Chicago, Ill. He was a 1946 graduate of Pullman Tech High School in Chicago. On Oct. 29, 1950, he married the boss’ daughter, Gloria Panetti in Chicago. They celebrated their 65th anniversary with family and friends in October 2015. Reno was a partner in a family business, P. Panetti and Company at 115th S. Michigan Avenue in Chicago. A Nappanee resident for 39 years he first worked at Vitreous Steel. He later retired from the Inn at Amish Acres as their maintenance manager. A Mr. Fix-it, he enjoyed the challenge of making broken things work.
He is survived by his wife: Gloria; son: Joseph (Karen) Fimbianti, Sherrills Ford, N.C.; daughters: Carrie (Rex) Hochstetler; Gloria (Ron) Howard, both of Nappanee; beloved grandfather of: Mike (Kim) Hochstetler, St. Joe, MIch.; Joe (Amber) Hochstetler, Goshen; Carlea (Nick) Bragg; and Brad (Taylor) Howard, Nappanee; and Dan (Heather0 Fimbianti, Atlanta, Ga. Reno was also the cherished ‘nonni’ of Alex; Mason; and Ellie Hochstetler; Hadlea and Mia Bragg; and Kenzington and Harper Howard. He is also survived by his brother: Tony (Dorothy) Fimbianti, Oak Forest, Ill.; and a sister-in-law: Jacqueline Fimbianti, East Hazelcrest, Ill. He was a dear uncle of nieces and nephews and their families in the Chicagoland area. He was preceded in death by his brother: John; and his beloved granddaughter: Anne Hochstetler Valdez.
Friends and family may call from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 3, at Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and an hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service, on Monday, April 4, also at the funeral home. Deacon John Tugman will officiate, and entombment will follow at Bremen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Elkhart County Hospice House (Old CR 20), or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
