CLAYPOOL — The town council of Claypool appointed Patricia Warner as the new clerk/treasurer yesterday evening, March 29, in a 10-minute special meeting that was held in the “Town Barn.”

John Barret, town attorney, had been talking with the Indiana State Board of Accounts to see what the town’s next steps should be after Beth Brewer, previous clerk/treasurer, resigned due to health reasons, effective as of March 1.

According to Niki Miller, town president, Barret received an email from “the state chair” giving a recommendation of who should be offered the position of town clerk/treasurer from the three applicants who applied for the job. Miller stated, “It is our job as a council to act upon that recommendation to appoint a new clerk/treasurer.” The third applicant did not live in Claypool and was not considered for the position.

Warner will be sworn into clerk/treasurer Friday, April 1.

The next town council meeting will be 7 p.m. Monday, April 18.
