WARSAW — The past six months have seen two daycare centers close and two more are joining their ranks. Little Blessings Ministry Daycare located at 835 N. Lake St. will be closing on April 22 and Wee-Care Daycare located at 2402 W. Old Road 30 will be closing on May 31.
“It’s heart wrenching and heart breaking, but when you have 108 kids and you don’t have enough employees to take care of them, you have to close,” said Director of Little Blessings Ministry Daycare, Bobbie Crouch. Little Blessings Ministry Daycare recently announced its own closure due to a shortage of staff and its far from the only daycare center experiencing this problem.
“Wee Care Daycare was very well staffed with “good” employees but the church decided to close the daycare because of financial/budgeting issues. ” Said Mary Stuller, the director of Wee-Care Daycare & Preschool. “What parents and companies need to realize is that the cost of daycare needs to rise to help keep good employees working,” said Stuller.
December, 2015, saw Teens and Tots, located at 1515 Provident Drive and North Winona Child Care Ministries, located at 2475 E. 100N., both close.
However, not all daycare’s are having problems. When asked about its staff Rainbow Child Care Center, located at 62 Capital Drive, reported it isn’t having any staffing issues, but only have a few part time care openings for children.
