A Pierceton man was arrested last evening by Kosciusko County officers on theft charges involving unlocked vehicles.

Matthew Christopher Hoshal, 20, Pierceton, was arrested by Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department detectives last evening at 5:55 p.m. and preliminarily charged with theft from a motor vehicle.

On Friday morning, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to various reports of thefts from vehicles east of Warsaw. Deputies stated that the unlocked vehicles had apparently been entered into overnight with various items removed.

During the concourse of the day, patrol deputies had encountered Matthew Hoshal in the Pierceton area after responding to a report of a suspicious person. Hoshal was later determined to have items in his possession that were similar in description to items taken from one of the thefts near the area of Old Road 30 and County Road 650 East.

Hoshal was taken into the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and interviewed by county detectives and subsequently confessed to at least one of the various overnight thefts. K.C.S.D. detectives are currently investigating to see if Hoshal is correlated to any of the other numerous thefts from motor vehicles that have plagued Warsaw Police Department and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department this summer.

Hoshal’s bond was set at $2,000 and is currently incarcerated at the Kosciusko County Jail. The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office also assisted in the investigation.
