Barbara Ellen (Clayton) Newberry, 84, Union, Mich., died 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Elkhart Hospice House. She was born Feb. 2, 1932, in New Paris to Isaac Mervin and Ruth May (Mishler) Clayton.

Surviving are daughters: Leanne Jeannot, Mattawan, Mich.; Dee Ann Foy, Elkhart; Lori (Lonnie) Shafer, White Pigeon, Mich.; Cindy (Greg) Nichols, Vandalia, Mich.; son: Craig L. Stump, Union, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents; siblings: Dorothy Slagle; John Clayton; Glenwood Clayton; Betty Markham; and a grandson: Adam Facciani.

Barbara was a 1950 graduate of Goshen High School and worked as an assembler at L.E. Johnson Products, Elkhart.

A celebration of life will be 2-3 p.m. Saturday, March 26, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, Goshen, with a memorial service at 3 p.m. followed by a meal and time of fellowship, also at the funeral home. Pastor Steve Steele will officiate. Burial will be at New Paris Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
