
Helen J. Kennedy, 93, of Columbia City, died at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor where she had been a resident since 2001.
She was born Dec. 9, 1922, in Kokomo, a daughter of Robert L. and Geneva V. (Mummert) Kennedy. In 1943 her family moved to Whitley County from Kokomo.
An employee of Whitley County Opportunity Center, she retired from Passages in 1995.
Her church membership was with St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Surviving relatives include a half sister: Becky (Roger) Fenker of Columbia City; three nieces and nephews: Ryan (Nancy) Fenker; Rachel (Kendal) Burkholder; and Terry Kenner; four great-nieces and nephews: Jodi Carnes; Bobbi Hammers; Dillon Fenker; and David Purvis-Fenker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Howard Duncan; stepmother: Mary Kennedy; and a sister: Ava Bobette Laranjo.
A private family graveside service will be held at Crown Point Cemetery in Kokomo.
