Have you ever wondered or even experienced what it would have been like to experience Christmas during the Renaissance period? How did they celebrate and what was the food like for a special feast? Have you ever tasted Figgy Pudding as mentioned in a favorite Christmas carol?

The Lakes Area Players and the culinary staff at Quaker Haven Camp are revamping their Madrigal Dinner this Christmas to truly whisk you back to the 16th century in merry old England.

The Lakes Area Players announce open auditions for the upcoming Christmas production. Persons are being sought for the 8th Annual Madrigal Dinner. The auditions will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at Quaker Haven Camp’s Activities Center located at the corners of CRs 900 North and 500 East, near Syracuse.

There is a need for two basses, two tenors, two altos and one soprano. The Players are also looking for 1 or 2 trumpet players.

A new niece and nephew for Lord William and Lady Elizabeth will also be cast. Children ages 7 years old to 12 years old with singing voices are encouraged to audition. Persons are asked to sing a song of their choice and do a little reading from the script. Musicians are asked to play a simple song of their choice.

Five performances with limited seating are slated for Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, 7-8. All performances begin at 7 p.m. except for a Dec. 2 matinee which will begin at 2 p.m. Reservations include the show and meal. For making reservations or needing more information, contact Quaker Haven Camp at 574-834-4193 prompt #1.  Or visit www.lakesareaplayers.com.

Come and experience a trip back in time to the era of lords, ladies, minstrels, and high court. Share a grand feast, festive music and wonderful fellowship to help celebrate the Christmas season.
