INDIANAPOLIS – The Warsaw boys basketball team is just one win away from playing for a Class 4-A state championship.
The Tigers now know where that one game will be played on Saturday.
The IHSAA announced this morning that the No. 5 Tigers will play in the Lafayette Jefferson Semistate. Warsaw (25-1) will face No. 4 McCutcheon (27-3) at 6:45 p.m. in the Crawley Center at Lafayette Jefferson High School.
The Lafayette Jefferson Semistate will tip-off with the Class 3-A game pitting Griffith (25-3) versus Marion (21-7) at 4 p.m. The Warsaw-McCutcheon clash will follow that game.
The Tigers defeated South Bend Riley 79-74 in double overtime and Crown Point 46-33 Saturday to win the Michigan City Regional title. McCutcheon beat Carmel 56-54 in overtime and Homestead 85-66 to win the Logansport Regional championship.
McCutcheon has played three games this season at Jeff. The Mavericks played in a tournament there in December and also beat Jeff on their homecourt in a game played in early February.
The winner of the Warsaw-McCutcheon game will face either No. 9 Southport (22-6) or No. 1 New Albany (25-1) in the Class 4-A state championship game on March 26 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
