Area Ladies Set To Play In All-Star Hoops Games
FORT WAYNE – A plethora of players from the area will get to showcase their skills this weekend in a pair of girls basketball all-star games.
The 3rd Annual Northeast Indiana All-Star Clash is set for Sunday in the Hutzell Athletics Center at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne.
The Class of 2019 Game will start the action at noon. It will be followed by the Class of 2018 game at 1:45, the Class of 2017 game at 3:30 and the Class of 2016 game at 5:15. The day will conclude with the Showcase game at 7 p.m., which features 20 of the top players in Northeast Indiana regardless of class.
The freshmen game will include Ellie Snep and Emalee Duggins of Whitko and Sophie Bussard of Tippecanoe Valley. The sophomore contest includes Addy Miller of Tippecanoe Valley and Hannah-Marie Lamle of Wawasee.
The junior game is slated to include Dayton Groninger and Mariah Rivera of Warsaw, Brianna Cumberland and Kennedy Krull of Whitko, Meredith Bouyette and Hannah Dunn of Tippecanoe Valley and Aubrey Schmeltz of Wawasee. Jennifer Reiff of Whitko will take part in the senior game.
The Showcase game will include Whitko standout Aly Reiff, who has made a verbal commitment to Xavier University. Reiff, a junior guard, has led the Wildcats to a 51-23 mark the past three seasons. She led her team this past season in scoring (19.1), rebounding (5.8), assists (5.5) and steals (2.8).
Admission is $7 for an all-day pass to the games.
The 1st Annual Northern Indiana All-Star Clash will take place Saturday. That event will be held in the McKenna Arena on the campus of Holy Cross College in South Bend.
The games in South Bend will begin at noon with the freshmen game, followed by the sophomore game at 1:45, the junior game at 3:30 and the senior game at 5:15. There will be no Showcase game.
Among the area players scheduled to compete on Saturday are senior Baleigh Carithers (Northridge), along with juniors Page Desenberg (Warsaw), Ashton Ellis-Krebs (Goshen), Kelsey Brickner (Northridge) and Taitlyn Crenshaw (NorthWood).
The list of players in the games at Holy Cross also include sophomores Krisen Hunt (Elkhart Central), Brooke McKinley (Northridge), Meghan Urbanski (Mishawaka Marian), Savannah Feenstra (NorthWood), Sara Doi (Penn) and Tia Chambers (Penn). Freshmen slated to play include Trinitee Harris (Elkhart Central), Ayzyana Billings (Elkhart Memorial), Makenzie Kilmer (Penn), Morgan Litwiller (Northridge) and Sierra Miller (Northridge).
An all-day pass at Holy Cross for all four games is also $7.
