PIERCETON — The memorial tribute for the Pierceton School is nearing finished at its location in front of the new elementary school building in Pierceton. Becky Gebert Gregory, chair of the Pierceton High School Alumni Association, said today that placing engraved pavers and mounting a dedication plaque are the only tasks remaining to complete the project.

“We’re nearing the end of the project,” said Gregory. “We urge any person who attended any grade at the old Pierceton School building to consider purchasing an engraved paver.” The pavers will be placed in the Alumni Plaza surrounding the tribute.

Gregory said the association has orders for 110 pavers, but there is still room for more, especially those who attended the elementary and middle school before moving to Whitko High School.

People are buying them in honor of classmates, teachers, parents or grandparents, and even friends, according to Gregory. She said families of Pierceton students are joining together to purchase a single paver to commemorate the entire family history at the old school building.

However, the window is about to close for ordering pavers and having them installed for the dedication on June 4. Gregory said the order will go in this Friday, March 11. The pavers cost $135 for a 4” by 8” paver and $165 for an 8” by 8” paver.

The deadline applies only to pavers installed in time for the Tribute dedication. Pavers orders received after Friday will be compiled and installation will be scheduled in the future.

Those wishing to order a paver by Friday should contact Gregory at (260) 402-1489 or at the association Facebook page.
