Former Triton School Corporation Superintendent Carl Hilling will flip the coin in the honorary coin toss prior to the Trojans’ home football opener against Culver Friday night.
“We are excited to have Carl in attendance at the game Friday night,” said Triton Athletic Director Mason McIntyre. “Carl’s efforts were huge in the construction of our new facilities (Ernie Watkins Pavilion and the new football press box). Without his leadership and his experience, completing these projects would not have been possible. I can’t thank Carl enough for all he has done for not only Triton Athletics, but for the entire Triton School Corporation.”
The coin used during the coin toss will be a commemorative coin that Mr. Hilling had made during his time at Triton, where he served as Superintendent from 2008-12. One side of the coin has a Trojan head with the three towns that make up the Triton School Corporation: Bourbon, Etna Green, and Tippecanoe. The opposite side includes Mr. Hilling’s motto, “Expect the Best,” with his five core expectations: Attendance, Attitude, Academics, Instructions, and Do Your Best.
Prior to serving as Triton’s Superintendent, Mr. Hilling served in the Superintendent role in several schools in Michigan and Ohio. Mr. Hilling retired from the Triton School Corporation in June of 2012. He currently resides in Gaylord, Michigan with his wife, Cynthia.
The Culver at Triton contest, which is also the Northern State Conference opener for the Trojans, is scheduled to kick-off at 7 p.m. Friday evening in Bourbon.
