At the Hoosier State Relays Qualifier at Indiana Wesleyan, Katlyn Kennedy led the Lady Warriors with the top shot put toss of the weekend. Kennedy sent the pill 35’8.25″ to lead all competitors, almost a foot further than the next-best toss. Teammate Seaquinn Bright was eighth at 31’3″ and Grace Ondrla was 12th at 29’10.75″.

Wawasee’s 4×400 relay was seventh at 4:40.69 and the 4×800 relay was also seventh with a time of 11:06.92.

Hannah-Marie Lamle was sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with a 10.73, and Elizabeth Zorn was 11th in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:45.38. Adriene Gill had Wawasee’s other placing time with an 8.72 in the 60-meter dash, good for 19th overall.

The Warrior boys had five results place at the HSR, with the 400 distance medley relay sixth at 12:06.54 and the 4×200 relay seventh at 1:41.62.

Cole VanLue was 10th in the 60-meter dash at 7.51 and teammate Michael Katzer was 19th in the event at 7.62. Stephen Possell was 15th overall in the shot put at 40’5.75″.

At Friday night’s Culver Academy Indoor Invite, VanLue won the 40-yard dash at 4.7, David Yankosky was tops in the 45-yard high hurdles at 7.2, and the girls 4×200 lap relay took honors at 2:16.50.

The Wawasee boys were third of five teams at Culver, the girls fourth of five teams.

“The veteran athletes got a chance to knock off a little rust before the start of the indoor state tournament series,” said Wawasee head coach Scott Lancaster after the Culver meet. “David Yankosky did a nice job in his win tonight despite not having run over high hurdles with virtually no real practice time over multiple hurdles.

“Our lack of outside time in the field events showed, but everyone, especially the pole vaulters, stepped up and competed hard.”

Wawasee will compete at the New Haven Bulldog Indoor Invite at IPFW this Saturday in the next round of the Hoosier State Relays Qualifiers.
