WINONA LAKE — The Center for Lakes & Streams is looking forward to an eventful year in 2016. Here are just a few of the events and activities the center is preparing for in the coming months:

  • Continued winter sampling: The center conducts regular stream sampling on Kosciusko County streams that feed into several local lakes in Warsaw, Winona Lake, North Webster and Syracuse. The Center for Lakes and Streams currently samples 19 county streams regularly, including four surrounding Winona Lake, six throughout the Warsaw area, three surrounding the Lake Tippecanoe area, four that flow to Lake Wawasee and one flowing out of Syracuse Lake.
  • Indiana Lakes Management Society Conference: Center for Lakes and Streams staff members will be attending the annual ILMS conference and will give presentations on our 2015 summer sampling, historical trends on local lakes and the local lakes’ economic impact.
  • Wonderful Water Student art contest: The center’s annual art contest is accepting student entries. Those interested in entering an art piece can visit lakes.grace.edu for more information.
  • Northern Indiana Lakes Festival: This year’s Lakes Festival is June 11-12 at Center Lake, Warsaw. Entertainment at the festival will include live shows, vendors, workshops, a concert, adventure race, ski show and the first-ever fireworks show on Center Lake.
