Syracuse Police say an attempted abduction reported Thursday night is unfounded and the case has been closed.

According to a statement left on the StaceyPageOnline.com Facebook page, a Syracuse woman said her son and a neighbor boy, both 6 years old, claimed they were the victims of an attempted abduction by two men in a black Mustang.

Syracuse Police Chief Tony Ciriello said that in talking to the boys, their stories conflicted three different times. “The only consistency was that it was a black car,” he added.

According to the officer who investigated, neither juvenile appeared shaken up from the incident and the unknown suspect reportedly never exited the vehicle.

Officers did search the town for approximately an hour, but no vehicle or individual matching the ethnicities given by the juveniles was found. The posting on our Facebook page noted one of the suspects was a white male wearing sunglasses. The second alleged suspect was a Mexican male.

The woman of one of the boys said the men were “brave enough to even park behind the kids houses when they tried to get them.”

Ciriello said the father of one of the juveniles apologized to police for making the call after police interviewed the youngsters.
