BOURBON — After reading “Deep Sea Danger,” a play by Judy Freed, students in Ms. McFarland’s sixth-grade English classes at Triton Elementary School wrote and acted out their own plays, complete with homemade props.

The plays were a way to write a problem-solution essay. The students were encouraged to be creative with this assignment.
