Annis Leads Record Day For Grace Track
ANGOLA – Six school records were rewritten and an NAIA mark was achieved by the Grace College track and field team on Friday at the Trine Classic.
Freshman Jamie Annis qualified for the NAIA Indoor National Championships in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in a school-record time of 9.05 seconds in the preliminary race. She ran a 9.06 in the finals to place second in the event.
In the women’s 200 race, a school record was set twice. Jo Boren set the school record in her heat with a time of 26.70. Her record lasted one heat, however, as Micah Pollard bettered that mark in a time of 26.57 in the very next run. Boren also won the 400 event.
Paige Kindig cleared the pole vault at a record-height of 10-feet-4, and Hannah Treadway set the new school mark by heaving the weight throw 49-1.
On the men’s side, Austin Keisling bettered his school-record time from last week in the 60 dash, ending the race in a time of 7.19 seconds.
Macallister Seitz set the school record in the weight throw last week. On Friday, he etched his name atop Grace’s shot put leaders with a distance of 45-10.
Additionally, the 800 races were both won by Grace runners. Katelyn McCullough won the women’s race in 2:28.43, and freshman Sam Hall took the men’s crown in 2:01.85.
“We had another very good night. Besides the records, there were several personal-bests, which is all we can ask,” said Grace coach Jeff Raymond. “This is a fun team to be around, and they show great support for each other.”
The Lancers’ next meet is on Feb. 6 with the IWU Invitational.
