Squires Stymie Valley
AKRON – Chase Fierstos led the way as Manchester posted a 61-50 win Friday night over host Tippecanoe Valley in a Three Rivers Conference boys basketball contest.
Fierstos canned a game-high 29 points as the surging Squires handled the Vikings.
Manchester, which won for the eighth time in its last nine games, led 21-8 after the opening period. The Vikings pulled within 29-27 at halftime before the Squires outscored the hosts 15-3 in the third quarter to take command of the game.
Alec Craig scored 17 points to lead the Vikings, who dropped their fourth straight game.
Jarod Duzenbery had 10 points to go with seven rebounds for Valley. Neil Clampitt scored eight points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Vikings.
Manchester, which bounced back from an 84-58 TRC loss to Maconaquah on Tuesday night, outscored Valley 18-9 from the free throw line.
The Squires improve to 11-5 overall and go to 4-2 in the TRC. Valley drops to 5-11 overall and sits at 3-3 in league play.
Valley plays at Wabash and Manchester travels to Northfield in TRC action Thursday night.
