James CornJames Corn, 90, Wabash, died at 3:50 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Parkview Wabash Hospital. He was born June 4, 1925, in Dora, to Benjamin and Hazel (Bitzel) Corn.

Jim was a 1943 graduate of Lagro High School. He married Peggy Joann Rinearson in North Manchester, Indiana on June 9, 1946; she died December 14, 2008. He retired from Celotex in Lagro in 1991 after 30 years, and also farmed his farm of 80 acres. Jim was a member of the Lagro Community Church. He played basketball four years in high school, coached Pony League in Lagro, and umpired baseball and softball games. Jim was the Grand Marshall at the Lagro Good Ole Days Parade. He enjoyed playing cards and taking his children fishing. He lived on the family farm 60 years and the past 4 years at Bickford Cottage in Wabash.

He is survived by six children: James S. (Janet) Corn, Delphi; Randy D. Corn; Kristi (Ed) Hampton, both of Wabash; Doug Corn, Urbana; Todd (Sheila) Corn, Bloomfield; and Tina Reed, Lagro; twin brother: Gene Corn, Amboy; sister: Jackie (Bob) Wilson, Wabash; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Asa Corn; Benjamin Corn; Lester Corn; and Junior Corn; and three sisters: Catherine Gudas; Eloise Brewer; and Ida Mae Reece.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash, with Richard Long officiating. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Lincolnville. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is to the Lagro Little League Program.
