Robert Vernon ‘Bob’ Kindig
Robert Vernon Kindig “Bob” died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016. He was 92.
Despite being born in Fort Wayne, living his productive career years in Elkhart and his early retirement with his son in Indianapolis, Bob always considered the Fulton County area of Akron and Rochester his home. Fulton County was where he grew up from a toddler to a young adult. After moving back to Rochester, Bob spent several enjoyable years establishing new friends and reconnecting with old friends from the past.
Unfortunately, age and health problems compromised his lifestyle. Bob accepted this and was appreciative of the help that he received to live independently as long as he could in his home area. Bob taught by example of how he lived his life: self-reliance, honesty, integrity and continuing quest for knowledge. Bob was an expert in accounting, fishing, gardening, genealogy and fixing things that were in need of maintenance or repair.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents: Vernon Kindig; Neva Personett Kindig; and sister: Helen Kindig Chapman. Survivors are son: Dr. John Kindig; daughter-in-law: Dr. Wendy Kindig whom Bob considered to be a daughter; dauughters: Janice Strickland; Beth Kindig; sister: Margilee Greer; and their respective offspring.
Bob gratefully thanks Gentiva Hospice and his many friends and neighbors for helping him remain in his own home until his death. Creamation arrangements are being handled by the Good Family Funeral Home of Rochester. At Bob’s request, there will be no formal funeral service. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
