Couriers Outlast Vikings

Tippy Valley SportsGOSHEN – Putting in overtime was not kind to the Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team Tuesday night.

Host Clinton Christian outscored the Vikings 15-6 in the extra session to post a 77-68 win.

The host Couriers led 13-11 after the opening period before Valley took a 28-27 edge at halftime. The contest was tied at 47-47 after three quarters and 62-62 at the end of regulation play.

Brandon Webster led the way for Valley with 19 points.

Jarod Dunzebery had 16 points to go with seven rebounds for the Vikings. Gavin Bussard netted 15 points and had eight rebounds and Alec Craig added 12 points for Valley.

Nathan Stutzman poured in 30 points, including hitting four treys, to lead the way for the Couriers. The junior entered the game averaging 22.8 points-per-game.

Clinton Christian, which has won nine of its last 10 games, improves to 10-4. Valley drops to 5-9.

Valley coach Bill Patrick, the state’s winningest active coach, is now 749-300 in his 47th season on the sidelines.

Valley won the junior varsity game 42-27.

Valley plays at TRC foe Southwood on Friday night. Clinton Christian plays at Bethany Christian on Thursday night.
