Donna E. Jernigan, 79, Syracuse, passed away at 9:25 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at I.U. Goshen Hospital in Goshen. She was born on March 17, 1936 in Elkhart, IN to Harold Dean and Goldie Elizabeth (Mellott) Mock.

She moved to the Syracuse area in the 1940’s and attended Syracuse High School. She was married on April 18, 1954, in Decatur, to Douglas T. “Doug” Jernigan who preceded her in 2004. She retired in 1996 from Dekko Engineering in North Webster after many years and formerly worked at Webster Products.

She attended the Church of God in North Webster and was formerly a member of the North Webster American Legion Auxiliary and Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by a daughter: Elaine (Mike) Cook, Syracuse; two sons: Thomas (Andi) Jernigan; and Larry Jernigan, both of Syracuse; three grandchildren: Jennifer (Jason) Webster, Leesburg; Ryan (Cari) Twait, Lexington, Ky.; and Nathan Cook, Milford; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County. Graveside services will be held in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery at a later date. Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
