The Tippecanoe Valley and Triton girls basketball teams are both poised to win conference championships as the end of the regular season quickly draws near.

The Vikings, who are 16-1 overall and ranked No. 5 in Class 3-A, lead the Three Rivers Conference at 6-0. Valley handed Class 2-A No. 1 and previously undefeated Rochester a 61-51 loss in the biggest game of the TRC season on Saturday night at Rochester.

Coach Chris Kindig’s team, which won the TRC at 7-0 last season, has league games left at Peru on Jan. 19 and at Manchester on Jan. 28.

Triton clinched at least a share of the Hoosier North Athletic Conference title last Friday night with a 66-19 league win at Culver. The Trojans, in their first year in the new conference, are 7-0 in league play, but are just 1-11 in non-conference game. Triton will conclude conference play on Jan. 29 at North Judson.

Northridge leads the Northern Lakes Conference standings at 5-0. The Raiders topped NorthWood 44-39 Saturday night in Middlebury to stay in control of the league race. Northridge has NLC games left at Elkhart Memorial on Jan. 22 and then a home game versus Plymouth on Jan. 28.

The Warsaw girls team sits tied with NorthWood for second place in the NLC at 4-1. The Tigers posted a big conference win at Goshen by a 37-33 count Saturday night.

The sectional draw for the girls basketball state tournament will be held by the IHSAA on Monday, Jan. 25 starting at 8 p.m. Area teams will play in sectionals at Goshen (Class 4-A), Tippecanoe Valley (3-A), Central Noble (2-A), Culver (1-A) and Hamilton (1-A) the week of Feb. 1.
