Hot Start Helps Wildcats To TRC Win

The Whitko boys basketball team picked up another Three Rivers Conference victory Saturday. The Wildcats downed Peru 66-55 to move to move to 3-2 in league play.

Whitko led 18-2 after the first quarter and 40-10 at the half to highlight the contest.

Nate Walpole went for 36 points and eight rebounds, River West had 19 and nine. Tanner Gaff led the team with 13 rebounds. Walpole also had five assists.

Whitko (8-6) will travel to Adams Central Tuesday night.

Lady ‘Cats End Skid

The Whitko girls basketball team snapped it’s short two-game losing skid Saturday evening. The Lady Wildcats earned a 54-32 win over Southwood.

Aly Reiff led Whitko with 13 points.Brianna Cumberland and Jen Reiff added eight and seven points for the ‘Cats, respectively. Southwood was led by Brooke Elliott’s 14-point outing.

Whitko (12-6, 4-2) will host Wawasee Tuesday night.

Grapplers Last At Goshen Invite

The Whitko wrestling team competed at the 48th Annual Goshen Invitational Saturday and, with a lack of numbers, left with a lack of points. The Wildcats finished eighth in the eight team field with a final team score of 78. Columbia City won the tournament with a score of 215.5.

No individual results were reported for Whitko.
