Virginia M. Chapman, 73, passed away peacefully at home the evening of Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016.
Born in Bremen, on March 5, 1942, as the youngest of nine children, she was the daughter of Charles C. and Lula Jane (Chapman) Hill.
On June 21, 1963, Virginia married Harold R. Chapman. The couple shared 53 loving years together and raised two children, Harlen and Alma. In addition to nurturing their children, Harold and Virginia served as foster parents for numerous children through the years. She was a seamstress who took great pleasure in making articles of clothing, dolls, bears, crocheting items, and doing embroidery and various other crafts throughout the years.
Virginia was active in various local churches. She attended and taught Sunday school at the Country Church of Bourbon, attended bible studies at the Bourbon Bible Church, and attended the Plymouth Wesleyan Church in Plymouth where she also helped in the CYC Children’s Ministries for years.
She is survived by her husband: Harold, Inwood; son: Harlen (Christina) Chapman, Huntington; and their daughter: Madison Klender; daughter: Alma (Brian) Arnold, Gainesville, Ga. Also surviving is her sister: Theda Hill Stuntz, formerly of Bourbon, now of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother-in-law: Harlen (Judy) Chapman; brother-in-law: Eugene Johnson; sister-in-law: Lela Morris; and numerous nieces and nephews living in Indiana; Ill.; Ariz.; Mis.; and N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents: Charles C. Hill; and Lula Jane Chapman; siblings: Rosalie Hill Pyles; Floyd Hill; Francis Levon Hill; Otho Doyle Hill; Norma Jean Hill; Robert Hill; and Dorothy Hill Johnson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at the Plymouth Wesleyan Church, Plymouth, with Rev. Ed Friberg will be officiating. Friends are welcome one hour prior to the start of the service.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Plymouth Wesleyan Church, the Bourbon Bible Church, Bourbon, or the Country Church of Bourbon, Bourbon, to either the missions program or children’s ministries. Johnson-Danielson is in charge of the arrangements.
