Swim Teams Sweep Goshen

The Wawasee boys and girls swim teams both enjoyed conference wins over Goshen Saturday afternoon.

The girls won nine of 12 events to help fuel a 112-74 victory.

The winning ways started during the diving portion of the meet for Wawasee as Hannah Rhoades took first place with a score of 182.80. Riley Kunkle grabbed third with her score of 135.45 for the Warriors.

Paige Miller won both of her events for the Warriors. The junior took first in the 200 IM (2:13.90) as well as the 100 fly (1:03.06). Miller also helped Wawasee to win two relay events. The Warriors took first in the 200 free relay with Miller, Mikala Mawhorter, Madi McBride and Shelby Adams. The team clocked a final time of 1:48.71.

In the 400 free relay it was Kayla Hershberger, Alyssa Koch, Adams and Miller finishing with a first place time of 4:00.08.

Hershberger had a good day as she won the 100 back (1:05.85) and took second in the 100 free (57.48). Mawhorter won the 50 free (26.85) and Koch took first in the 500 free with her time of 5:44.21.

The girls will compete in the Northern Lakes Conference meet next Saturday at Concord.

The boys team escaped Goshen 107-79 thanks to victories in eight events.

Brady Robinson was a double winner in the meet. The sophomore won both the 100 breast (1:05.50) and then 200 IM (2:02.08).

Robinson was also a part of two relay wins. Robinson, Ethan Knepp, Brett Willaman and Logan Brugh combined for a time of 1:38.64 to win the 200 free relay. The same group, with Jared Krugman swapping in for Willaman, won the 400 free with a time of 3:40.84.

Krugman earlier took first in the 500 free (5:15.80) and 100 back (1:02.24). Brugh won the 200 free with a time of 1:53.23 and later the 100 free (50.23).

In the diving portion for the boys Austin Dunithan led the way for Wawasee with a score of 194.70, placing him second overall.

Frosh Basketball Team Competes

The Wawasee boys freshman team competed in the Manchester Tourney Saturday morning.

The Warriors opened with a loss to Bishop Luers with no stats being reported for the contest. Wawasee ended its day with a win over Manchester. Marshell Miller led the team with 11 points.
