Northridge Takes Command At Warsaw
WARSAW – Northridge left the Tiger Den Saturday night in good shape in the Northern Lakes Conference girls basketball race after a 46-25 final over Warsaw.
The Raiders moved to 4-0 in the NLC and 16-3 overall after shooting its way past the Tigers. Northridge was 50 percent from behind the arc, hitting 7-14 shots from three. The Raiders were 51 percent overall from the floor (19-37) and did the job on the other end as well, forcing Warsaw into 24 turnovers.
The Raiders converted those turnovers into 26 points.
Warsaw managed to make just 10 field goals in the game, and only six of those were from less than 19-feet, nine inches. The Tigers shot 38 percent from the floor (10-26).
The game was relatively clean, both teams combining for just 13 total fouls in the game, and both teams were just 1-2 from the free throw line.
Baleigh Carithers and Kelly Miller led Northridge with 12 points each and Brooke McKinley added eight points and five steals.
Mariah Rivera paced Warsaw with 11 points. Dayton Groninger, who scored a career-high 28 points against Wabash Wednesday night, was held to just five points on six shot attempts.
Warsaw falls to 5-13 overall and loses its first NLC game to move to 2-1.
The Warsaw JV edged Northridge 27-25, stats were not provided.
Warsaw will host Elkhart Memorial Wednesday night while Northridge will host DeKalb Tuesday. The Raiders will look to take command of the NLC Saturday night when it hosts NorthWood, which moved to 4-0 in the NLC after beating Wawasee Saturday night.
