Ronald Leroy Quillen passed away at 11:37 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at Warsaw Meadows Care Center of Warsaw at the age of 77.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years, and retired from the military as Chief Petty Officer. He worked for 20 years as a machinist for Union Tool Corporation in Warsaw.
Ronald enjoyed aviation, knife making, hunting, fishing, and he loved guitar music. He will be fondly remembered for being a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He was born on May 8, 1938, in Jonesville, to Valentine Quillen and Lillie Mae (Rager) Quillen. On April 18, 1960, he was married to Lois Claudette (Mitchell) Quillen, who survives in Warsaw.
He will be lovingly remembered by his son: Anthony (Delores) Quillen, Leesburg; five daughters: Robin (Tommy) Hobart, Warsaw; Valentina Duff, Wakarusa; Polly (Jeffery) Bornes, Warsaw; Amy (Kenneth) Haack, Warsaw; Kitrina Beard, Warsaw; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers: William (Betty) Quillen, Seymore; Harry Quillen, Tenn.; and his sister: Linda (Phillip) Morris, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and three brothers.
Visitation will be held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw. His funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Ron Konkle. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #49, V.F.W. #1126 and active members of the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
