ROCHESTER — Mr. Dennis Richard Nesbit, 66, Rochester, died 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
On June 28, 1949, Dennis was born in Kokomo to Harold and Mildred Jameson Nesbit. Dennis married Laura Brantley Nesbit March 31, 1998, in Columbus. Together they shared nearly seven years of life’s adventures till her passing in 2005.
Growing up in Howard County, he shared his childhood with a sister and two brothers. Dennis and his family made many memories skiing, fishing and boating across the sparkling waters of Lake Manitou.
Patriotism beckoned in 1968, and with great pride Dennis answered the call serving our country during the Vietnam War with the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in 1974. He was a member of the Manitou VFW post #1343, the Leroy Shelton American Legion Post #36, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and the Manitou Moose Family Center.
Gifted with his hands, Dennis enjoyed working residential construction for his brother Mike. He was accomplished with aspects of plumbing especially sweating copper.
An American sportsman, Dennis loved to fish the waters of Lakes Manitou and Nyona. Armed with his casting rod and tackle box he looked forward to catching the limit of blue gill and bass. He also enjoyed hunting squirrel, rabbit and deer.
Dennis is lovingly remembered by his dear friend, Carmi Bickham, Rochester; father, Harold Nesbit, Branson, Mo.; a daughter, Kristien Ball, Clarkston, Washington; three sons: Mike Ward, Rochester, Richard Nesbit, Seattle, Wa., and Jerrod Dauenhauer, Tennessee; four grandchildren: Kyle Dauenhauer, Jordan Teri Ball, Susan Nicole Ball and Alexandria Ryan Kostelnic; a sister: Linda Schmitt, Rochester; two brothers: Mike (Julia) Nesbit, Rochester, and Jeff Nesbit, Fort Ogden, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Dennis in death are his mother, wife and grandparents.
Chaplain Harry Migonis will officiate services. Military rites will be conducted by the Fulton County Honor Guard and the US Marine Honor Guard.
