1726483_profile_picNORTH MANCHESTER — Richard P. Turner, 84, of North Manchester, died at 2:17 a.m. Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

He was born April 10, 1931 in Marion to Charles and Elsie (Haltom) Turner.

Turner was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was a tool and die maker at Fisher Body in Marion, retiring after 13 years. He also worked at Dana Corporation in Marion. He had a great love for farming and animals. Richard was a loving husband, father, a hard worker, and very active in construction projects. He lived at Peabody Retirement Community since July.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Turner of North Manchester; three children: Phillip K. Turner of Marion; Randy J. Turner and Regina Elliott, both of North Manchester; eight grandchildren: 11 great grandchildren; and two brothers: Delbert (Evadine) Turner of Marion; Ervin “Burley” (Linda) Turner of Sweetser; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son: David Turner; five brother; five sisters.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Kirk Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
