Leonora “Ann” Eliseanna (Wennerstrom) Gibbons, 89, of N. Main St., Elkhart, died at 5:50 p.m. Dec. 20, 2015 at her residence she had been in declining health for the past couple of years.
Ann was born on March 15, 1926 in Culver, to August Wennerstrom “a survivor of the Titanic” and Naomi (Johnson) Wennerstrom.
She had lived in Elkhart for the last 14 years, coming from Rochester. On Nov. 10, 1945 in Kewanna, Indiana she married Francis D. Gibbons, who preceded her on July 9, 1985.
Ann was a seamstress at Hart, Schaffner, & Marx in Rochester for over 30 years. After the Hart, Schaffner, & Marx plant closed she worked for Scott Foods and Dairy Queen both of Rochester. She was a past member of the 844 Maxinkuckee Rebekah Lodge, Culver; and she volunteered at the Elkhart Senior Center at the YMCA, Elkhart.
Ann is survived by her daughter: Gale May Hoefle, Elkhart; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;
brother: Culver Wennerstrom, Mishawaka.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband :Francis Gibbons; children: Johnny Gibbons, Dale Gibbons and Frances Brown
Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 23, at Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos. Private family interment will follow with Chaplain Madge Braden of the Center for Hospice at the Maxinkuckee IOOF Cemetery at Poplar Grove, SR 10, Culver.
