Ann J. Lemmon, 79, formerly of Columbia City, died at 1:35 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
She was born Oct. 17, 1936, in Fort Wayne, Most of her formative years were spent in Auburn. In 1950 her family moved to Columbia City. She graduated from Columbia City High School in 1954.
On July 16, 1954, she was united in marriage to Phillip Dean Lemmon. They made their home in Columbia City with the exception of three years in Valparaiso. In August 2014 they moved to Sycamore Village.
Ann worked for Webber Insurance, Gates Bros., Rush Law Office, Dr. John Wilson, Dr. James Lawrence and lastly CCHS Cafeteria.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and formerly Delta Theta Tau.
Surviving relatives include her husband: Dean; five children: Cathy (Michael) Schrader, Carla Schmitt, Stephanie (James) Wigent, Stephen (Brenda) Lemmon and Joel (Shannon) Lemmon, all of Columbia City; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four brothers: Allan D. White, North Manchester; Dennis White, Bradley Nelson and Barry Nelson, all of Columbia City.
She was preceded in death by her mother and step father, Margaret & Harold H. Nelson; and two great grandsons.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Eberhard Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Heartland Hospice, Hospice Home or Grace Lutheran Church.
