Charles J. Music, 78, North Manchester died at 12:51 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 20, 1937, in Little Paint, Ky., to George and Hattie (England) Music. On Dec. 28, 2002, he married Lula Owens; she survives.

He owned and operated Music Service and Repair, North Manchester, until his retirement in 2013.

He was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division at the end of the Korean War. He grew up in Laketon from the age of 5 and attended school there. He loved playing music with a gospel group, “Old Friends,” at Gethsemane Ministries, Huntington, where he and his wife attended.

He joined Christian Fellowship Church, North Manchester, and was baptized by the late Rev. Robert Gidley March 29, 1981. He was an avid gardener and fruit grower. He enjoyed many hours in his shop tinkering and working on family projects. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his two dogs, Smokie and Jimmy.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Rick (Martha) Music, Silver Lake, and Michael (Debbie) Music, Warsaw; a daughter, Cheryl (Todd) Harshman, Akron; two brothers: Frank (Mary Belle) Music, North Manchester, and George (Billie) Music, North Manchester; a sister, Helen Yentes, North Manchester; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Rosalie (Holloway) Music; one son, Timothy Charles Music, and one grandson, Kyle A. Music.

A funeral service is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor Worlie Newsome officiating.

Visitation is set for 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at the funeral home.
