CULVER – Ignas Masiulionis and Marie Steiner walk the same campus in northern Indiana, and the Culver Academy standouts are among the honorees in the IBCA/Subway Player of the Week program for the week of Dec. 7-12.

The Eagles’ duo is joined by Clinton Prairie senior Kale Morris, Castle junior Jack Nunge, Delphi senior Myka Roth and Evansville Central junior Zion Sanders as weekly winners in the recognition program coordinated by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

Masiulionis and Steiner are respective boys’ and girls’ winners for District 1, Morris and Roth for District 2, and Nunge and Sanders for District 3.

The 6-1 Masiulionis averaged 29.5 points in leading Culver Military (2-2) to a pair of victories. The Lithuanian sharpshooter opened his week by scoring 30 points with two rebounds and one assist in a 50-48 victory over Tippecanoe Valley. The junior guard followed by tossing in 29 points with eight rebounds and one assist in a 66-53 triumph over Portage. For the week, Masiulionis sank 19-of-31 shots, including 13-of-21 3-pointers, plus 8-of-13 free throws.

Steiner, a 5-9 senior guard, averaged 22.3 points and 4.3 rebounds over three games for the Culver Academy girls (7-5). The Hamilton (N.Y.) College recruit netted 30 points with four rebounds, three assists and two steals as the Eagles defeated Culver Community 59-42. Steiner then tallied 26 points with five rebounds, two assists and three steals in a 60-30 decision over North Judson. She completed her week with 11 points and four rebounds in a 57-21 decision over South Bend Riley.

Morris averaged 29.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in two games for the Clinton Prairie boys (4-1). The 6-4 forward produced 28 points with five rebounds and four assists in a 75-47 rout of Tri-County. He followed with 31 points, nine rebounds and two assists in a 58-43 victory over Delphi. For two games, Morris made 21-of-31 shots, 10-of-18 3-pointers and 7-of-8 free throws.

The 5-11 Roth averaged 19.7 points and 9.3 rebounds in propelling the Delphi girls (8-3) to a trio of victories. Roth started her week by scoring 18 points with nine rebounds and three assists in a 65-36 triumph over Harrison (West Lafayette). She followed with 27 points and 15 rebounds as the Oracles knocked off Rensselaer Central 67-47. Roth then tallied 14 points and four rebounds as Delphi edge Lafayette Central Catholic 56-54.

Nunge paced the Castle boys to a 77-65 victory over Evansville Harrison in his team’s only game of the week. A 6-11 forward, Nunge poured in a career-high 35 points with 15 rebounds as the Knights improved to 3-0. He converted 12-of-19 shots, including one 3-pointer, plus 10-of-11 free throws en route to his big game.

The 5-8 Sanders averaged 24.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists over two games for the Evansville Central girls (9-0). Sanders produced 28 points with nine rebounds and five assists in a 73-49 victory over Castle. The standout guard followed by netting 20 points with nine rebounds and five assists in a 73-53 triumph over Gibson Southern. Over two games, Sanders made 21-of-29 shots and 6-of-10 free throws for the Bears.
