Grace College SportsWINONA LAKE – Kelsie Peterson was named the standout player last week by the Crossroads League.

Peterson earned her first league Player of the Week award on Monday after a strong week for the Grace College women’s basketball team.

Peterson racked up 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in a win at Union (Ky.), beating a team that was ranked No. 19 in the NAIA Preseason Poll. She also added 10 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals against Cumberland.

Peterson’s 23 points against Union was two points shy of a career-high 25, which she set on Dec. 5 against rival Bethel. The sophomore guard has reached double-digit scoring in four straight contests and in six of her past seven.

The Lady Lancers return to action on Dec. 28-29 with the St. Xavier Tournament. Grace plays at home again on Jan. 6 against Huntington.
