Barbara Shepherd, 75, Leesburg, died at 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, in her residence. She was born April 20, 1940, in Columbia City, to Charles and Helen (Gebert) Wolfe. She has been a resident of Kosciusko County since 1966.
On Dec. 26, 1965, she married Russell Hursey who died Aug. 31, 1994. Then on May 15, 1999, she married William E. Shepherd who died February 18, 2013. She was a former co-owner of The Farmers Exchange in Larwill from 1965 until 1973. She was also formerly employed by Union Products in Cromwell. She was a member of the Menzie-Reese Post of the American Legion Auxiliary in Pierceton.
She is survived by her daughters: Deb Baker, Silver Lake; Tona (companion Doug O’Brien), South Whitley; a son: Scott Clem, Fort White, Fla.; stepdaughters: Sandra Helblig, Leesburg; Jane (Carl) Hughes, Silver Lake; a stepson: Charles Shepherd, Pierceton; sister: Mary Lou Loe, Columbia City; brother: Robert Wolfe, Park Falls, Wis.; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands; a sister; and a great-granddaughter.
A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel in Pierceton. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel in Pierceton, with Pastor Carl Hughes officiating. Burial will follow the service at Washington-Union Cemetery in Pierceton.
