Edwin Parker Jr.

Edwin Parker Jr., 90, a former resident of Churubusco and more recently of Fort Wayne, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at Coventry Meadows, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Parker was born Feb. 22, 1925, in Fort Wayne, a son of Edwin E. and Ila (Guiff) Parker. He spent his formative years in Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco High School.
After high school he served in the United States Navy during World War II and was married Sept. 7, 1946, to Mary Louise Herron.
He was employed at Dana Corporation, Fort Wayne, and retired from there in 1979 after 31 years. Mr. Parker was a member of the Gilbert Davis American Legion Post 157, Churubusco.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary Louise Parker; his two sons: Max (Carolyn) Parker, Kendallville, and Steve (Nancy) Parker, Fort Wayne; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Thelma Zolman and Lois Long.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco, with Chaplain Karen Kosberg officiating, along with military rites.
A private family burial will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
