David G. Johnson

Mr. David Glen Johnson, 60, Rochester, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at the Hospice House of Elkhart at 3:38 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015.
On Nov. 21, 1955, David Glen was born in South Bend, a treasured son of Wilburn “Duz” and Darlene Engel Johnson. Growing up as the third oldest, he shared his childhood with two sisters and three brothers. David was a proud member of the Rochester High School class of 1974.
David and Brenda Stallard were married May 29, 1976, in the Church of God, Rochester. Together, they shared more than 39 years of life’s adventures. From their union came a daughter, Brandi, and a son, Glenn. Over the years, the family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of five grandchildren.
In the early years, David and Brenda enjoyed country living on a hobby farm while raising their family. They cared for some chickens, cows, pigs horses and a goat. David loved horseback riding. As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Wawasee, canoeing on the Tippecanoe and camping. He shared many lighthearted moments with family and close friends telling jokes, pulling pranks or surprising the designated special one with a practical joke. David was a member of the Leroy Shelton American Legion Post #36 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
Left to cherish David’s memory are his wife, Brenda; his mother, Darlene Johnson; a daughter, Brandi J. Johnson (Justin) Kneifel, Kouts; a son: Glenn A. (Bambi) Johnson, Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren: Kira L Kneifel, Alaina M. Kneifel, Kaleb A. Johnson, Elizabeth K. Johnson and Addison R. Johnson; two sisters: Denise Johnson, South Bend, and Darla Johnson (companion Steve Mahoney), Rochester; three brothers: Doug Johnson, Rochester, Dan (Terri) Johnson, Rochester, and Dean Johnson, Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his father and his canine companion, Peaches the German Shepherd.
A celebration of the life of Mr. David Glen Johnson will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, with Chaplain Jason See officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, and an hour prior to services in the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Rochester’s IOOF Cemetery.
