Martha JefferiesMrs. Martha M. Jefferies, 93, Rochester, passed away at 12:08 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, at Hickory Creek of Rochester.

On Sept. 26, 1922, Martha was born in Fulton County to Orville and Lillian Ruth Partridge Kalmbacher. Growing up she shared her childhood with a sister, Mary and a brother, Raymond. Proudly she graduated with the Class of 1940 from Talma High School.

Martha and Deverl “Doc” Jefferies were married on October 12, 1940 in Logansport. They shared 67 years of life’s adventures. Doc passed away on June 11, 2007.

As a homemaker, Martha cherished times with her family. FOX News was her source for following current events. The Indianapolis Colts and the Fighting Irish were her favorite sports teams. To relax she enjoyed sitting down with a good autobiography.

Martha is lovingly remembered by her daughter: Janelle (Brian) Green; two grand dogs: Bella, the black Cocker Spaniel and Kassie, the party colored Cocker Spaniel all of Rochester. Preceding Martha in death are her parents; husband; son: Kent Jefferies, in 2001; a sister: Mary Dinwoodie; a brother: Raymond Kalmbacher; and a grand dog: Dylan Green.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at the Rochester IOOF Cemetery with Rev. Junior Bose officiating.

Memorials may be made to Fulton County Animal Education and Adoption Center through the Northern Indiana Community Foundation, Rochester.
