Vikings Whip Wabash With Defense

Tippy Valley SportsWABASH – The Tippecanoe Valley girls basketball team was in defensive mode Saturday night.

A strong effort on the defensive end of the court carried the Vikings to a dominating conference win at Wabash.

The Class 3-A No. 8 Vikings held the hosts to single-digit scoring in all four quarters en route to a 59-26 rout in Three Rivers Conference action.

Valley led 16-6 after the opening period and 30-13 at halftime of the league contest. The Vikings then outscored the Apaches 17-4 in the third quarter, holding the hosts to just one field goal in the period.

Junior star Anne Secrest led a balanced offensive attack for the defending conference champion Vikings. The Youngstown State recruit had 14 points to go with 16 rebounds in the win.

Addy Miller netted 10 points and Hannah Dunn and Meredith Brouyette each finished with eight points for Valley, which improved to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the TRC.

Sophie Bussard tallied seven points and Brynda Krueger added in six for the winners.

Wabash falls to 6-3 overall and 1-1 in the TRC.

Valley plays at Triton Wednesday night. Wabash hosts Rochester on Dec. 12.
