BOURBON – Triton used a tremendous start to defeat Knox 58-41 Saturday afternoon in girls buckets at the Trench.

Triton used its highest-scoring quarter of the season, 25 points, to overwhelm Knox in a 25-7 first quarter. The Trojans continued on with a 56 percent (15-27) shooting first half. Triton ended up shooting 48 percent from the floor (23-48) and led every offensive statistical category on the night.

Hannah Wanemacher continued to work back from missing a handful of games earlier in the season. The sophomore made 7-11 shots, including three from deep, to finish with 17 points to lead the Trojans. Jaela Meister continued to give Triton some balance with 10 points, three boards, two assists and a steal.

Shayla May and Charlotte Morris each finished with eight points, Morris a perfect 4-4 from the floor in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference matchup.

Knox (3-6, 1-1 HNAC) had Mikayla Shidler finish with 17 points and six boards and Leslie Kroft pour in 14 points and four steals before fouling out.

Triton (3-7, 2-0 HNAC) will host backyard rival Tippecanoe Valley Wednesday night.
