Joan (Keplinger) Castle, 82, Pierceton, passed away at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday Dec. 2, 2015 in her residence with her son, Ronald by her side. She was born May 15, 1933 in Warsaw to Merle and Louise (Alsberger) Keplinger.

She was united in marriage to Mitchell R. Castle on March 20, 1953 in Warsaw, who preceded her in death on June 17, 2010.

A lifetime resident of Pierceton, Joan worked for Da-Lite Screen and Pierceton Elementary School cafeteria. She taught Sunday school at the Pierceton Presbyterian Church and was a member of Pierceton Kilcare Club. She did house cleaning and babysitting. Joan loved birds and enjoyed gardening in her flower garden.

She is survived by her three sons: Ronald (Pam) Castle, Columbia City; Michael Castle, Warsaw; and Dennis (Janet) Castle, Pierceton; sister: Jeanette (Leroy) Eytcheson, Peotone, Ill., five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Randy Castle, five sisters, Geraldine Peterson, Helen Pollock, Mildred Keplinger, Norma Johnson and Betty Clark and four brothers, Melvin, Irvin, Richard and Fred Keplinger.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton, with Pastor Bob Jarboe officiating. 

Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery Pierceton. Memorial contributions are to be made to Kosciusko Homecare and Hospice, P.O. Box 1196, Warsaw.
