The area is very well represented this week in the ICGSA high school girls basketball polls.

Eight teams, highlighted by Tippecanoe Valley and Whitko, are among the ranked squad in the coaches’ polls for the four classes statewide.

Valley, which suffered its first loss of the season to Westfield 50-44 (which is ranked No. 10 in Class 4-A) Saturday night in the title game of its own tourney, is ranked No. 8 in Class 3-A this week. The Vikings, who were Class 3-A state runner-up last season, are 5-1 on the season. Valley returns to action at Plymouth Thursday night.

The Wildcats check in at No. 9 in the Class 2-A poll this week. Whitko moved to 6-1 on the season with a convincing 50-28 win at Warsaw on Friday night. The Wildcats play at Fort Wayne Northrop Wednesday night.

Rochester and Oregon-Davis sit at No. 1 and 2 in the Class 2-A poll. The Zebras are 6-0, while the Bobcats are 4-0.

Undefeated Penn is No. 4 in the Class 4-A poll with a 7-0 mark. South Bend St. Joseph is No. 4 in Class 3-A and is 5-0 on the season. Argos is No. 4 in the Class 1-A poll with a perfect 6-0 record. Westview, which is 4-2, received votes in the Class 2-A poll.
