Minor Injury In Six-Vehicle Accident

WHITLEY COUNTY — A six-vehicle accident on US 30 at CR 300E in Whitley County, Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 24, resulted in a minor injury to one driver.

Andriusaitis Justinas, 56, Darien, Ill., suffered a minor cut on the face and was treated at the scene following the 3:21 p.m. accident.

Justinas’ 2007 Volvo semi was heading westbound on US 30 and failed to get stopped in time at the red light causing the six-vehicle accident.

Justinas’ semi struck a westbound 2015 Peterbuilt semi driven by Michael S. Miller, 39, West Maple Street, Kimmell; an eastbound 1986 Oldsmobile driven by Nathaniel James Leach, 25, Crestview Drive, Kendallville and a 2010 Freitliner tanker driven by Bart A. Goodin, 46, West Sheckler Road, Columbia City; a northbound 2008 Ford Pickup driven by Chad Radke, 42, East Lincolnway, Columbia City, and an eastbound 2004 Jeep driven by Samuel J. Herber, 28, Cherry Blossom Lane, Fort Wayne.

Vehicles driven by Justinas and Leach were totaled. Damages to Miller’s semi was estimated at $15,000; Goodin’s vehicle at $5,000; Radke’s vehicle at $3,000 and Herber’s vehicle at $1,000.

The accident was investigated by the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, area fire and EMS agencies.
