WARSAW — An opportunity to correct a non-sufficient fund check has lead to the arrest of a Warsaw man on charges of check fraud, a level 6, felony.

Fred H. Olinger, 48, 837 Rozella Road, was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 11, on the preliminary charge. His bond was set at $3,000 cash.

According to documents filed in Kosciusko Superior Court 3 by the prosecutor’s office, Olinger wrote a check on July 27, in the amount of $2,819 to H & L Motors as a down payment on a vehicle. The check was returned to the company on two occasions for insufficient funds.

Officials from the prosecutor’s office contacted Olinger regarding the check. He told authorities the problem was over an individual not fixing a problem on the vehicle. Olinger was told to bring a cashier’s check to the prosecutor’s office in the amount of the check or criminal charges would be filed. As of Nov. 2, no cashier’s check had been received. Charges were filed on Nov. 4.
