With Thanksgiving coming very soon, what better time to explore some dishes that might fit well on your Thanksgiving table?

For fun, I thought I would pick some recipes for everyone’s lifestyle, and all of these are available at your Warsaw Community Public Library.

I will leave the turkeys and hams to you, although I would add that I like to baste my ham with apple butter or pineapple preserves.

From “The Complete Idiots Guide to Vegan Cooking”, let’s add glazed sweet potato, cranberry, and pecan medley to the menu. Who doesn’t like sweet potatoes?

Next, we’ll use “Good Housekeeping’s Vegetarian Meatless Recipes Everyone Will Love.” Finding veggies the kids will eat can be a chore, so why not sneak it in. The recipe for Cauliflower Mac and Cheese combines hidden cauliflower and carrots for some extra nutrition for those picky eaters.

What is Christmas without Christmas cookies? Using the cookbook “Gluten-Free Christmas Cookies” by Ellen Brown, you can make your yearly decorated sugar cookies that the gluten-free dieters can love.

For the bread lovers in the crowd, garlic-rye rolls will add a tasty extra for the holiday table. This recipe can be found in “Weight Watchers Cut the Fat Cookbook.”

Add some grilled veggies to the menu from “Taste of Home Farm Favorites.” Dilly grilled veggies combines mushrooms, zucchini, broccoli, red pepper and dill, grilled inside aluminum foil. Sounds tasty to me.

Of course, I save the desserts, the best part of a holiday meal, for last. We don’t skimp on flavor, texture, or calories for this. “Taste of Home 2013 Holiday and Celebrations” offers many mouth-watering desserts. I think I’ll pick pumpkin pie cannoli for a sweet treat. Ricotta cheese, pumpkin, pudding, chocolate chips, and hazelnuts all rolled up in a homemade shell and fried to perfection? My idea of yummy!

Stop in at your Warsaw Community Public Library and check out the cookbook offerings we have. There is, literally, something for everyone’s Thanksgiving table.
