Mary Ann Ramsey, 98, Columbia City, passed away at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 at her residence. Born on Nov. 14, 1916, in Pomeroy, Ohio, she was the daughter of Francis and Anna (Wiseman) Neutzling.
Mary moved to Ferndale, Mich., near Detroit, at an early age. She was a homemaker and resident for over 70 years and also attended the Catholic Church there. Mary moved to Columbia City in 2014 to be closer to her family, where she was able to enjoy her last days with. Mary enjoyed doing crafts such as knitting hats and sewing, along with keeping a personal diary for many years about the daily weather. She also enjoyed traveling to Florida in the winter and to Canada in the summer.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law: Arveta Ramsey, Columbia City; grandchildren: Deborah Deutsch; David Ramsey; and Rhonda Knepple, all of Columbia City; Ed Ramsey, Staunton, Va.; Jerry Ramsey; and Karen Springsteel, Gleenwood Springs, Colo.; and Shelby McKean, Eagle, Ark.; 12 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; nephew: Ken Crouse; and niece: Kathy Bryon. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; husband: Everett Ramsey; and stepsons: Gerald Ramsey; James Ramsey; and Edward Ramsey; and one nephew: Phil Crouse.
A graveside service will be held for Mary at 2 p.m. Friday Nov. 13, at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery, Troy, Mich. Arrangements by DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, Columbia City.
