Marsha K. Elward, 62, Churubusco, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015, at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis.
Born on Nov. 8, 1952, to Robert and Florence Wafer in Fort Wayne, Marsha graduated from South Side High School in 1971. She married her high school sweetheart Robert Elward on May 25, 1973, and they had three daughters. Marsha moved to Huntertown in 1984 and to Churubusco in 1999.
Marsha was a loving, supportive and brave wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching I Love Lucy and soap operas, and playing with her grandchildren. She courageously battled three cancers and remained strong and loving throughout her illnesses.
Surviving is her husband of 42 years: Robert J. Elward; three daughters: Valerie (Cory) Friend, Columbia City; Kimberly (Ryan) Petty, Warsaw; and Shannon Elward, Indianapolis; four grandchildren: Logan; Ava; Mackenzie; and Kaiden. She is preceded in death by her parents: Robert L. Wafer; and Florence M. Metheny; and her siblings: Janis E. Parker; and Gary W. Wafer.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Father Danney Pinto, the celebrant. The family will receive friends at the Sheets and Childs Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, or at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Ege Catholic Cemetery, Ege.
