A man returned a book to Guntersville library that he checked out in 1952.

GUNTERSVILLE, ALA. — An Alabama man is relived to know he will not be having to pay overdue fines for a library book he returned to his old high school this week.

The man recently discovered the book that he has had since he checked it out from a Guntersville School back in 1952, which was 63 years ago.

The librarian did the math on five cents a day and that comes out to be right at $1,500.

“It was a fantastic book best I can remember,” said Bobby Rice, of the book titled “Lydia Bailey.”
