MILFORD — Milford Public Library will be hosting the following activities:
Scott Workman Concert
Plan to attend the classical guitar concert scheduled for 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26. Graduate student Scott Workman will be back. Scott is a graduate student at IU South Bend, and will be completing his Master’s degree in Classical Guitar performance in December, 2015. This performance is being done in preparation for his Master’s recital, which will be at IUSB on Nov. 16.
The recital will feature music from all historical time periods, with works by Alonso Mudarra, Robert deVisee, J.S. Bach, Fernando Sor, Francisco Tarrega and Andrew York. The concert will be in the teen area of the library. Music lovers, don’t miss this great opportunity!
Lapsit
Lapsit is at either 11 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27. The theme is Apples! We will learn some finger plays, sing songs such as “Way Up High In An Apple Tree”, and read books about Apples. Join staff for our last week on Tuesday.
Fall Preschool Storytime
Happy Halloween Week. Join staff this week for Fall Story Time at either 10:15 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, or at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, as we go batty for books. Listen to staff read “Five Black Cats” by Patricia Hegarty, “Halloween Mice” by Bethany Roberts, and “Boo, Bunny!” by Kathryn O. Galbraith. After listening to stories, we will make bats out of toilet paper rolls and decorative paper. When our bats are done, we will enjoy a ghostly pretzel rod dipped in white chocolate. You are welcome to wear your Halloween costume to this story time. See you there.
Lights Out at the Library!
Mark your calendars for Lights Out at the Library. This year’s theme is, “Have a Graphic Novel Halloween!” Tours through the library will be on from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, the same hours as Milford’s Trick or Treat. This program is for all ages. If you would like to donate some full size candy bars to the library to give as treats at the end of the tour, please bring your donation to the adult circulation desk.
Super Librarian will greet you at the beginning of the tour. Meet Captain America, Batman and Robin, Batgirl, Wolverine, Wonder Woman, and the Ninja Turtles! Small groups will stop at several stations set up in the library, each one promoting our graphic novel collections in the adult, teen and children’s departments. Admission is free. The tour takes about 15 minutes and children in costume get a treat at the end of the tour. Watch local newspapers for more information each week.
